Man appears in court for unlicensed firearm and armed robbery

Information links suspect to robbery cases.

 

A man (30) appeared in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 29 September facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearm, two counts of armed robbery and suspected stolen property.

Douglasdale Police Station’s Captain Mpho Kgasoane said, “It is alleged that police received information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect who was found by police at a certain house at Pipeline informal settlement.

“Upon searching him police recovered two cellphones that included an Apple S7, Samsung A3 galaxy, bank cards and an unlicensed firearm. A preliminary investigation revealed that the Samsung Galaxy was stolen on 25 September in Douglasdale.”

He added that the bank cards and a handbag were robbed from a victim on 27 September in her driveway on Malibongwe Drive and during the incident, the woman was hit on her forehead with a gun.

The suspect was positively linked with the two armed robbery cases and arrested.

Douglasdale police want to thank community members who came forward with information regarding the case.
