Midrand property developer arrested at OR Tambo over bomb threats

JOBURG - A property developer has been arrested for a string of bomb threats that caused massive losses for various shopping malls.

According to News24, a property developer from Midrand was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport on 17 July in connection with bizarre bomb threats across the country.

The 73-year-old developer had returned to the country from a trip to France when he was arrested on charges of intimidation and incitement to commit murder, as reported by Netwerk24.

It is believed that the suspect and his wife, along with another, are responsible for about 60 bomb threats in the name of Islamic terror groups. These threats resulted in massive losses at various shopping malls last year, including Mall of Africa. Malls were evacuated each time threats were made but bombs were never found, reports News24
