Lee Diaz, mother of Trelan Diaz writes:
I would like to thank the Reach for a Dream Foundation (RFAD) team in KwaZulu-Natal and Johannesburg for their hard work and dedication in fulfilling Trelan Diaz’s dream of meeting his football icon, Keagan Dolly.
The experience of him flying for the first time, to the overwhelming emotions he felt when he saw Dolly was, and will always be indescribable. On the aeroplane Trelan was in utter awe at the idea that he was above the clouds and the clouds were not above him. The passengers on flight SA534 to Johannesburg all got to hear him scream “Whooo Oooh” during take-off. The crew was so kind and caring. A great thank you to the cabin crew for allowing him to meet the captain as well as going into the cockpit.
We were then met by an extraordinary gentleman, Kevin Naidoo from RFAD who was patient with us before leaving to meet the rest of the team at head office, where we were welcomed with such awesomeness, smiles and hugs all around. Trelan was so excited at the experience and the atmosphere around him.
Thank you to Sindiswa Msomi and Karen Hunt for escorting us to the Extreme Indoor Carting at Cedar Square where we were met by the Vision View Productions team, who set up their cameras and equipment to capture this incredible moment before we met Keagan Dolly, Ramon Dolly and the Nike Managers. It was then that Trelan had us all in tears from the joy he expressed when he saw Keagan.
Keagan has been Trelan’s idol since he understood football and follows his every game and move. The two of them had so much fun together. I have never met a more humble, respectful, tremendously loving, young man. He made Trelan feel like the star of the moment and was so loving towards him. The hours they spent together had been captured in mine and my little boy’s heart forever.
I thank God for the team that was behind this dream fulfilling moment and I pray for God’s richest blessings upon them. I am forever indebted to all the sponsors, the Reach for a Dream team, Vision View, Nike and the Dolly Family for making my son’s wish come true.
