Make a pancake cake for Father’s Day this June

FOURWAYS – Hirsch's Fourways provides a fun and tasty way to celebrate Father's Day.

With Father’s Day around the corner, Hirsch’s Fourways recently organised a comfort food demo especially geared toward dads in the family.

The demonstration was presented by Lezane Fourie who realised early in life that she had a passion for helping people. She suggested that the perfect way to treat your dad this Father’s Day (18 June) would be to make him a delicious ‘pancake cake’.

Fourie spoke about her interest in healthy living and working with fresh produce. She helps people to move away from fad dieting and to adopt healthy lifestyles. Her special interests are pre- and post-natal care, infants and children as well as diabetes.

Fourie’s co-presenter, Malan van den Berg, undeniably has future master chef written all over him. As a teenager, he discovered his love for food, especially pastry. He is currently a first-year student at the Swiss Hotel School where he is studying a hospitality management course.

“We prepared an amazing dish, which we named ‘expectation chicken’, accompanied by biltong and broccoli pasta. It was a healthy but balanced version of comfort food,” said Hirsch’s public relations officer, Sharron Dingle.

Dingle said they also made a chocolate pancake cake, which included decadent chocolate mousse containing avocado pear and a berry compote sauce, topped with fresh strawberries and some delectable dark chocolate drizzled over the top. “Everyone agreed that it was the perfect treat for dads.”

Hirsch’s Fourways present live cooking demonstrations on the first Saturday of every month and anyone can join.
