A passionate veterinarian and Fourways resident is going beyond the call of duty to cycle 900km across four provinces over nine days from 21 to 29 April in the 2017 joBerg2c Mountain Bike Challenge.

Robin Beetge who resides in Glenferness, Kyalami will be joined by his team which consists of South African Wildlife veterinarian, Brendan Tindall from Plettenberg Bay along with two veterinarians from the United Kingdom, Paul Meiring and Jason Davidson.

Passionate veterinarian, Brendan Tindall and Robin Beetge will ride for a good cause.

Their aim is to help raise funds for the Chipembere Rhino Foundation, based in the Eastern Cape.

Each team member has set up a Just Giving (website) Page to encourage people to help them raise funds for the foundation.

The team hopes to create awareness of the desperate plight of rhinos and to encourage support from communities in the UK and South Africa. They also hope to raise funds via their web pages to allow the foundation to continue its efforts to combat the tragic rhino poaching crisis in Southern Africa.

“It is my deepest wish that my children’s children can share the joy of seeing rhino roaming free in Africa. Over the last two decades, I have developed a deep compassion for these gentle giants and I am committed to fighting for their survival,” Tindall said.

The foundation specialises in sourcing, testing and funding technology for effective monitoring of rhino; funds K9 handlers and their tracking and apprehension dogs; provides anti-poaching teams with vital equipment and funding equipment needed to translocate rhino across Southern Africa and collaborates with other like-minded NGO’s and companies.
