Paulshof community upset with new educational facility being built in the area
FOURWAYS – The residents expressed concern that the academy would bring with it an increase in traffic congestion.
Nova Pioneer Academy is ready to start construction on the corner of Amanzimtoti Road and Stone Haven Road in Paulshof, Sandton.
The community, on the other hand, does not seem extremely excited about the academy’s plan.
The Paulshof community was very upset when they realised that a new academy was opening after allegedly having no knowledge about this development.
Taylor Stockton, head of marketing for Nova Pioneer South Africa attended a Paulshof Residents and Ratepayers Association (PRRA) meeting to answer any queries and also held a meet-and-greet meeting on 6 March where all residents were invited.
At the meetings, residents were upset as they felt the academy did not advertise their plans properly and that they were being secretive about the process, even though the area was zoned for educational purposes.
The residents expressed concern that the academy would bring with it an increase in traffic congestion.

Councillor Candice James said, “Last night’s meeting went in the right direction, but the content of the meeting was based on a sale’s pitch more than on the residents’ concerns. Nova Pioneer agreed to send us further documents. I am waiting for confirmation from the City of Joburg on the current process.”
Stockton added, “Last night was an important step toward Nova Pioneer’s aim of establishing a strong collaborative relationship with the Paulshof community.
“Nova Pioneer will continue to work with the PRRA and James to ensure there is an agreement between the school and the community. This will be to ensure open lines of communication.”
