School blues mystery for Ward 115 councillor

While Gauteng Department of Education has released information to Fourways Review over the new school and what is to be expected, ward councillor Chris Santana for ward 115 is scratching his head.
The article published, School boom, week ending 18 July, quoted the department as saying the new school will have space for just over 800 pupils.

Santana on the other hand said endless meetings with relevant parties had noted that the school would have space for 1000 pupils and this number of desks had already been ordered.

The article also stated there would be 24 classrooms, while plans showed there would be 25 classrooms.

The department said the school would likely open next year January with only Grade 8 and 9’s. The school would only be at full capacity when 2014’s Grade 9’s had reached matric.

Again, Santana said it was indicated that the school would be open to all grades.

He added he was unsure if the school would be able to open in January considering the work that still needed to be done.

Santana is planning a public meeting to discuss the new school and the logistics behind it with the community.
