Mothapo said that an undisclosed amount of money was taken and an investigation is underway. “One of the suspects was armed with a firearm and they proceeded to rob the two stores within half an hour of each other,” said Mothapo.

Mopthapo also warned the community that house burglaries are still problematic in the Sandton area.

He issued the following tips:

  • Do not leave garages or front and back doors open. It serves as an invitation to criminals
  • Only open windows which have burglar bars
  • Windows left open should not be visible from the street
  • Do not throw empty boxes which contained quality items in the refuse bin. Criminals look out for that
  • Know your neighbours and have proof of identity of all employees.
