Douglasdale police spokesperson Captain Mpho Kgasoane said about 150 suspects were arrested from 17 to 19 February by different Joburg West Cluster police stations.
These include the police stations of Douglasdale, Honeydew, Diepsloot, Roodepoort, Linden, Florida and Randburg.
“Suspects were arrested for different crimes ranging from business robbery, house robbery, rape, possession of dagga, illegal firearms and assault, to possession of suspected stolen property, drunken driving, fraud and shoplifting,” she said.
Kgasoane said it was important for community members not to take the law into their own hands but to report crimes. “Fighting crime is not an easy task, but we believe that with the support of the community we will at the end of the day combat crime. Let us work together and build a crime-free community.”
Some of the suspects have already appeared in court.
