‘You are the only one walking in your shoes’
FOURWAYS — Du Plessis says every 'no' she has heard was one step closer to a 'yes', more so with a supportive husband standing behind her.
Fourways Review published an article about the humble beginnings of Jaci Tibbit, the founder of children accessories company, Jackflash, after she was crowned Mrs Joburg 2016.
She has now been nominated for this year’s woman of the year award by Woman of Substance (WOS), an initiative that was founded in 2001.
“Woman of Substance is committed to the empowerment of women and highlighting those making a difference,” said Tibbit, an entrepreneur, mother and wife.
“The purpose of the award is to recognise women who embody the qualities and characteristics of a woman of substance, a woman who maintains and nurtures the core values of WOS, a woman with grace and integrity and who makes a difference.”

She felt blessed, grateful, honored and excited, and the initiative gelled with her passion, she said.
“I would like to thank my husband, Craig, for his unconditional support in my business career, Charlotte du Plessis from WOS for this wonderful opportunity to be a part of empowering members of WOS, and Dennis Lloyd for sponsoring me [with] a spectacular evening dress for the event.”
She encouraged young entrepreneurs to believe in themselves. “You are the only one walking in your shoes. You are the only one wearing them. So, wear them well,” quoting the motto she lives by. “Be persistent, determined, motivated and have courage to get out of your comfort zone. Follow your passion, because when you follow your passion success follows you.”
She wants young entrepreneurs to remember that every ‘no’ is one step closer to a ‘yes’.
