Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) has released player rankings from various schools with Parklands College in Cape Town holding the number 1 spot.

MSSA’s blog covers varying degrees of competitive gaming in the country.

According to Colin Webster, the general secretary for MSSA, school clubs are vital in terms of growing the South African eSport industry.

“With the huge influx of schools entering MSSA in 2017, it will be interesting to see if Parklands can hold onto their number 1 ranking,” Webster said.

Other schools included in the rankings were Sacred Heart College, St John’s College, Fairmont High School, Hyde Park High School, St Stithians College, HTS Witbank, Linkside High School, King David Schools, St Albans School, Fish Hoek High School, Parktown Boys’ High School, Rondebosch Boys’ High School and Maritzburg College.

The MSSA Online School Provincial Championships will be held on 11 February.

To enter, school clubs must acquire permission from the school principal and pay the annual affiliation fee of R100, and the annual registration fee of R5 per player.
