Two bust for suspected stolen copper cables

FARMALL – Two suspects stole copper cables worth R263 000.

 

Douglasdale police arrested two men, both aged 44, for possession of suspected stolen property on 8 November at a residence in Farmall.

According to the head of communications at Douglasdale Police Station, Captain Mpho Kgasoane, police officers were conducting an operation when they came across a suspicious-looking truck delivering goods.

“Our police officers followed the truck and upon arrival at the scene, the suspects denied them access. After gaining access, the premises were searched and copper cable to the value of R263 000, [allegedly] belonging to Eskom, was recovered,” Kgasoane said.

She added that the suspects were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property and appeared in Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 10 November.

“We appeal to members of the community not to buy stolen goods as this can help to prevent crime in the area.”
