Unity College lends a helping hand

CHARTWELL – At a special assembly, Unity College pupils learnt about an organisation which rescues and re-homes animals.

Unity College lent a helping hand to a neighbouring non-profit organisation when pupils handed over dog food, which they collected over a few months, to Animal Instincts.

On 14 October, the college held a special assembly to hand over the dog food and to allow the owner of Animal Instincts, CJ Hartle, to talk to the pupils about the organisation and rescue animals in general.

Hartle brought one of the dogs from the organisation, a female Jack Russell named Tootsie, to the assembly.

“A big thank you to Unity College for allowing me to visit and chat to the children and teachers about animal welfare,” Hartle said.

“We received a lot of dog food, although Tootsie was more interested in chasing the chicken [which lives on the college’s premises] which caused a bit of craziness.”

Animal Instincts rescues and re-homes stray dogs either found and brought to the organisation by community members or who have been rescued from abusive owners. Before a dog is adopted and re-homed, the animal will be vaccinated, dewormed, sterilised and micro-chipped.
