This was revealed by Niki Cronje, a Fourways resident and a group marketer at the company.

The campaign, which is set to commence on 10 until 21 October, is targeted at educating parents in Gauteng, Tshwane, Limpopo, North West and Mpumalanga about the importance for children to buckle up in a moving vehicle.

“Each year we push the boundaries in terms of driving additional reach around road safety education and this year is no different. As leaders in mobility, there is no doubt that we are at the centre of leading the change towards safer roads and the Car Seats for Kids campaign is a fundamental pillar to driving such change,” Cronje said.

She added that the campaign was backed by their media partner Jacaranda FM and logistics partner Imperial Truck Rental, as it aims at not only educating parents about the importance of buckling their children up but also, very critically, the importance of doing so correctly.

Staying safe on public transport

“Imperial aims to ensure, through this campaign, that they are educating parents on the correct way in which to buckle up their children – not only by providing insight into the importance of buckling up but teaching parents how to select the right car seat, dependent on a child’s weight, and ensuring that this seat is correctly installed.

“To this end, the campaign will set out to collect used [children] car seats through donations by the community, [we] will clean, refurbish and safety check them to give them to a family that is not able to afford one,” Cronje said.

She added that a children’s car seat was not a luxury, it was a necessity, and it was their mission to use every avenue available to drive awareness of the campaign and encourage consumers to get involved by donating their used car seats and giving a child the gift of safety this Transport Month.

“As South Africans, it is each and every person’s responsibility to look after our most precious cargo which is our children and therefore, we are very proud to yet again be able to bring this key initiative to market. We encourage consumers to donate their used car seats in the coming weeks and to be part of the change that the country so desperately needs when it comes to child safety, while on the roads. Go on, make a difference, save a life,” Cronje concluded.

The campaign will be at a number of shopping malls between 7.30am to 4.30pm from 10 until 21 October.

  • East Rand Mall on 10 October
  • Hillcrest Boulevard on 11 October
  • Hillfox Mall on 12 October
