NORSCOT– Do you know what's in your backyard? If not…read to find out.

Community members are invited to come and enjoy the beauty of nature on 8 October at Norscot Koppies Nature Reserve.

The reserve, situated on Alexander Avenue in Douglasdale, will be open to the public on the second and last Sunday of the month and the summer opening times are 7.30am to 6pm.

The public is invited to unwind, enjoy and discover the nature reserve which is seen as a true jewel in the heart of Fourways.

The reserve is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including klipspringer and duiker and covers an area of about 16 hectares.

Sue Glanville, of the nature reserve, said interested people should visit the reserve’s website to read all about the geology and history of the koppies.

“Trail enthusiasts can also read the walking trail notes which tell you all about the flowers, grasses and trees that can be seen while walking the trail in the reserve,” Glanville said.

Community members are advised to bring their families, pack a lunch, visit the bird hide or just relax on the grass. Entrance is free and donations of any kind are most welcome.
