Exciting changes at Bryanston Sports Club

BRYANSTON – Not only will the Bryanston Sports Club offer exciting new activities to its members, but improvements of the club itself are set to commence soon.

The Bryanston Sports Club hosted their first monthly committee meeting on 29 August and elected Rudolf Buys as the new club chairman.

The municipal club is open to the public and community members are encouraged to become members.

Vice-president of the club, Clive Williams said the committee consisted of a representative from each of the three sporting sections of the club – tennis, bowls and squash. Each sports department also has a chairman, a vice-chairman, a treasurer and general members.

“The new club chairman, Rudolf Buys, called the first monthly committee meeting. The agenda started with looking at the finances of the club, with the club in good financial shape with adequate reserves and income. The new committee will ask members for the ideas of new projects for the year and initial concepts. These include tiling the outside patio and providing classy tables, chairs and building new squash courts to handle the increasing membership,” Williams explained.

He added that the lighting on some of the tennis courts would be upgraded as well as the modernisation of the bar and pool table area. The next agenda addressed the manager’s report which dealt with the daily running of the club.

“All of the facilities are in excellent shape, with two of the tennis courts having been resurfaced. The bowling section implemented their annual greens closure for maintenance and all the leagues and social sports activities in the other sections are running well,” said Williams.

The club plans to implement high profile social events and activities. The first new activity will be an Oktobeerfest on 8 October complete with live music, oompha band, Bavarian food, decor and fun activities. This will be open to the public and tickets are available on the BSC Facebook page or at webtickets [https://www.webtickets.co.za/]
