ANC seeing its last days in power – Mackenzie

FOURWAYS - ANC is taking South Africans for granted according to DA's Cameron Mackenzie

Fourways Constituency MP Cameron Mackenzie has congratulated the people of Johannesburg for keeping the ANC out of the corridors of power in the City of Johannesburg.

Mackenzie’s remarks followed after the DA thrashed the ANC in the contest for the mayoral and speaker positions in Pretoria and Johannesburg. The DA’s Herman Mashaba easily defeated Mpho Parks Tau of the ANC for the mayoral position of Johannesburg with Mashaba garnering 144 votes and Tau 125 during a City Council meeting that was characterised by delays and heckling.

The DA won with the assistance of the Economic Freedom Fighters and other smaller parties who voted with the blue team to relegate the ANC to the opposition benches. “This is a victory for the people of Johannesburg and I wish to congratulate them,” said Mackenzie.

The DA legislator added that the ANC must draw lessons from the election results. “[The] ANC seems to believe that they are entitled to power and, in the process, fail to realise that power comes from the people. And for that, this is what they reaped.”

He warned that the ruling party was seeing its last days in power as South Africans were determined to send them packing in the next parliamentary elections. “The magnitude of corruption within the ANC is beyond redemption and South Africans witnessed that and will never give them any more time to loot national resources,” concluded the liberal minded lawmaker.
