Help police link suspects to recent crimes in the area

DOUGLASDALE – The Douglasdale Police Station is in need of help from community members to help identify stolen items which are connected to a possible crime syndicate.

The Douglasdale Police Station have recovered stolen items from three suspects who were arrested on the morning of 16 August, and are appealing to community members to claim the goods so that police can link the suspects to crimes committed in the area.

According to Captain Fritz Kriel, the suspects were in possession of toy firearms, stolen cellphones, handbags, jewellery, glasses, clothing items and a book.

“We believe that these suspects are part of a syndicate [operating] in the area. We also believe that some of the items retrieved from the suspects are from recent crimes committed in the Chartwell, Farmall and Millgate area,” Kriel said.

Kriel added that one suspect was in possession of a USB stick as well as a bank card. “The bank card that we retrieved from one of the suspects belonged to a woman who was raped in Honeydew and the USB belonged to a man who was robbed in Randburg,” he said.

“We appeal to community members who are able to identify these items to come forward and claim them so that we are able to link the suspects to the different crimes committed in the area.”
