73 year old accident victim limps to polling station

DIEPSLOOT - EFF claims popularity in Diepsloot

Andrew Maleka, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) candidate for Ward 95 came out of the political closet to claim popularity in the populous township of Diepsloot.

Maleka ruled out any chance of losing to the ANC.

“How can they be elected ahead of us after subjecting all of us in Diepsloot to abject poverty?” questioned Maleka soon after casting his vote.

Maleka maintained that his rivals from the ANC were already conceding defeat.

“Some of the ANC leaders have already told us that they were having challenges in Diepsloot,” said Maleka.

He, however, did not identify the ANC cadres who were already throwing in the towel and also dismissed the Democratic Alliance (DA) party as a non-starter.

“DA can’t win in a black township like Diepsloot,” said Maleka.

Maleka is fighting against Refilwe Mathebula from the DA and Matlale Mphahlele from the ANC.

Meanwhile, 73-year-old Onnica Ngubane limped to the voting station despite her inability to walk after being run over by a car recently.

Ngubane was literally assisted to walk by community members Agnes Ramosoeu and Jermina Mathoni.

“I have a duty to vote and my accident won’t deter me from doing exactly that,” said Ngubane.
