Support young voices as they seek success

MIDRAND – Companies and businesses come together to support young talent.

Riversands Incubation Hub and Tintswalo Property Group are sponsoring the Diepsloot School Choir Festival to attend the Grahamstown Festival in July next year.

The choir won the annual Diepsloot Choir Festival which was sponsored by both companies and the Diepsloot Youth Programme, and recently sang at Carlswald Shopping Centre in Midrand.

One of the directors of the Riversands Incubation Hub, Tracy Henley said, “This amazing programme was born out of a collaboration between the Diepsloot Youth Programme and a few key businessmen in the Fourways area. The Riversands Incubation Hub was approached by the Diepsloot Youth Programme to host the first annual Diepsloot Choir Festival and was very excited to do so. This will be an ongoing project for the Riversands Incubation Hub as it was very successful and has some strong partners in this initiative who can really pull things off.”

Henley added that the atmosphere within the hub when the festival was on was amazing and people stopped in the hallways just to listen to the enchanting voices and music emanating from the auditorium.

“Many of the Riversands Incubation Hub staff could not draw themselves away and attended most of the day’s proceedings. The musical talent from Diepsloot was awe-inspiring and the amount of work put into each choir’s presentation was truly spectacular,” she said.

Property portfolio manager of Tinstwalo, Michelle Townsend said they were supporting the choir so they could go to Grahamstown Festival next year to compete.

Townsend said, “We request your support and enthusiasm for these rising stars so that they can go to Grahamstown.”

Leader of the choir, Milton Manhisse said, “We are so excited about this opportunity and are looking forward to going to Grahamstown next year, please support us.”

Papi Sathekge, who founded the choir said, “This is a great choir, it is one of the best things to come out of our community. We are using music to show that Diepsloot has a lot to offer, if we have support.”
