Update: Delayed response from Lonehill Fire Department explained

LONEHILL – The Lonehill Fire Department was delayed in tending to a fire which broke out at a house in Lonehill ... here's why

The Randburg Fire Department responded to a fire which broke out at a house on Lewis Road in Lonehill 45 minutes after it broke out.

Reports stated that the reason behind the delay was that the Lonehill Fire Department had to respond to a milk tanker that was on fire on the N1 South.

“My concern is that Lonehill was left exposed, and an investigation has to be made as to why the Midrand Fire Department could not respond to the milk tanker’s fire on the N1,” candidate Councillor for Ward 94, David Foley said.

He added that the situation left both Lonehill and Midrand exposed, hence the Randburg Fire Department had to attend to the Lonehill fire.

“Lonehill Fire Department was functional, the unfortunate part was that the tanker caught fire almost around the same time that the house in Lonehill caught fire, which meant that the Lonehill fire truck had to attend to the N1 South scene instead of the fire in Lonehill. This is concerning and an investigation needs to be done regarding this matter,” Foley said

However, Candice James added that the information she received from the City of Johannesburg Emergency Services was that the Midrand Fire Department does not have a truck as it was at the workshop for mechanical repairs, hence the Lonehill Fire Department had to attend to the fire tanker on the N1.
