Vote for your #TopCop for June

FOURWAYS - Fourways Review, together with Auto & General and the Douglasdale Community Policing Forum are looking for the Top Cop.

The Douglasdale Police Station Top Cop Awards are to acknowledge those who go beyond the call of duty, with some putting their lives on the line for the safety and security of the community.

Detective Paulina Mathebula has been nominated for Best Detective for June.

According to Douglasdale Police Station commander Brigadier Lettie Hugo, Mathebula is punctual, always in possession of a pocket book which is completely up to date, and is always in possession of her appointment certificate – which proves she is a detective. Hugo said Mathebula is also involved in standby duties as she is one of the members Hugo can rely on to go the extra mile in serving the community.

“I am very excited about being nominated as this came as a surprise to me, I really did not expect it,” said Mathebula.

“I really do take my job seriously as I am involved in general investigations. With some cases we handle, we always try to make sure that we are peacemakers and bring unity to the community, as that is our top priority.

“Being there for the community is of importance to me.”

Hugo added that one of the priorities for investigative officers was to give feedback to the complainants, which builds a strong relationship between the community and the police. “Mathebula gives feedback to the community for most of the dockets she is investigating,” said Hugo.

“She also does standby duties. Even on standby, she is willing to assist her colleagues if members of the community who are witnesses want to give witness statements… She is also always willing to assist her colleagues for the tracing and arresting of suspects.

“Mathebula always complies with the instructions of the Senior Public Prosecutor and officers in most of the dockets she is investigating.”

To vote for Mathebula, SMS ‘TOP COP MATHEBULA’ to 33657 by 25 July.
