Cook-off for a cause

BROADACRES – Calling all foodies to compete for the best potjie at Broadacres Shopping Centre on 25 June.

Community members are invited to battle it out for the best Potjie Pot at the second Potjiekos Fundraiser Competition which will be hosted by the Douglasdale Community Police Forum (CPF), Douglasdale police and Metro police on 25 June.

This year’s competition will take place in Broadacres Shopping Centre’s parking area. Set up will be at 7am, the cook-off starts at 8am and judging will take place at 12pm.

Entry to the competition is R1 000 per team of four to five members, with meat and vegetables provided.

There will be food on sale from 1pm and a prizegiving at 1.30pm.

Douglasdale CPF is looking forward to jointly hosting the event with Douglasdale police and Metro police. “Not only will it be a great opportunity for all of us to interact and build relations within the community, but it will be a fun day for the whole family, with a healthy dose of competition. All funds raised from this event will enable us to better serve our community and support our men and women in blue,” deputy chairperson of Douglasdale CPF, David Foley said.

“It is also a good thing for community members to know members of the police, Metro police and CPF, and this will serve as a day to interact with them. That way, community members will know the right person to speak to in any situation they come across.”
