Preserving the environment was seen as a top priority by pupils of Unity College, a special needs school, as they took to the Jukskei River to help clean it up.

The school’s advancement officer, Michelle Kirk said, “Our Intermediate Phase pupils assisted local Chartwell North Estate residents to clean up the Jukskei River at the end of Woburn and Seventh Road.”
She added that the clean-up was ahead of the school’s inaugural Big5Walk which took place near the river on the 11 June.

“The pupil were enthusiastic and it was a nice change from a classroom environment to be out and about in the fresh autumn air,” said Kirk.
