FreeMe Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre’s computers and electronics were stolen on 26 May and the centre is appealing for assistance from community members.
General manager of the centre, Margo Bansda said, “Upon arrival at our centre, we realised that all our offices were ransacked and our computers, power inverters that were donated three weeks ago, LTE router and projector were stolen.”
Bansda explained that a case was reported the next day at Sandton Police Station and detectives came and took fingerprints. She added that she will take the investigation further with necessary authorities.
“FreeMe has recently been very busy in upgrading its facilities in order to comply with regulatory requirements for the renewal of our permits. We were about to invite members of the community to participate in maintenance services to complete the upgrade when this robbery hit us last week. Now we ask businesses and individuals for additional assistance or donations in IT, computers and electronics that will contribute towards keeping FreeMe in operation and able to admit animals again,” Bansda said.
The centre appeals to community members who would like to donate their services and products to please contact them.
Sandton police were approached for comment but had not responded by the time of publication.
