Shumbashaba brings joy to children with disabilities

DIEPSLOOT – Shumbashaba to host Special Olympics on 28 May.

Shumbashaba Equestrian Centre in Diepsloot will host its annual Special Olympics on 28 May.

Community members are invited to attend the event and are urged to support the personal growth and development programmes, established by the centre, for the children of Shumbashaba and Diepsloot.

The Special Olympics provides an opportunity for much-needed interaction, social upliftment and reaching out to the children.

The centre specialises in providing therapeutic facilities for people with physical disabilities, learning difficulties and disadvantaged backgrounds to experience the healing therapy of horse riding which creates a unique and nurturing bond between horse and rider. The aim of the centre is to restore a sense of purpose and self-worth in the children and to build self-esteem.

The Special Olympics is an exciting joy-filled day for special needs children to take part in soccer, horse riding, bowls and volleyball and offers an opportunity to qualify for the International Special Olympics overseas.
