Help get hit-and-run victim’s body home

DIEPSLOOT - The family of 26-year-old Brave Chilanga is trying to raise R15 000 to take his body home to Malawi for a proper burial.

Chilanga was killed in a tragic hit-and-run accident on 16 May, which also claimed the lives of two others.

Diepsloot police spokesman Warrant Officer Daniel Mavimbela confirmed that a case of culpable homicide was opened.

Described as kind and considerate, Chilanga was the breadwinner for his family. He leaves behind his wife, Mary, and daughter, Siphiwe, who is 14 months old.

Anyone interested in assisting the family can contact Sarah Pattison-Emms, a family friend.

Joseph Jere, Chilanga’s cousin said, “At the moment we cannot get him home for a proper funeral because we cannot afford the transport costs of taking his body home. We are not asking for a lot, just what people can give as it all adds up in the end.”
