The benefits of yoga

FOURWAYS – Founder of Divine Interest, Carla Aspesberger, speaks about the benefits of yoga in her own life.

Praised for its ability to reduce stress and boost well-being, yoga also offers wide-ranging physical health benefits which rival many other forms of exercise.

According to Carla Aspesberger, founder of Divine Interest, a mobile yoga company, the benefits of yoga include a better posture, better and deeper sleep, a decrease in chronic pain and an improvement in learning and memory.

Aspesberger, who has been practicing yoga for more than six years, explained that the benefits of yoga in her life were endless. “To me, it is not just a practice I do every day, it’s a way of life. My eating habits changed. I noticed that by eating healthy my mind feels healthy too. My way of thinking improved. Not only is my memory better, but if I am faced with problems I choose to see the bright side in everything, and resolving problems is much easier.”

Although extremely popular in eastern countries, there is still a misconception of yoga being a religion, which Aspesberger explained was far from the truth. “Most often people are scared to try yoga and meditation because they think it is a religion. And in actual fact, it is far from it, this is a science proved to improve every aspect of your life.”

According to her, yoga and meditation are not just physical as they allow our minds to let go of tension. “By doing the yoga poses, you don’t praise any godly figure, but you explore yourself, your body and mind. And once you notice how good you feel when doing this, your life will automatically fall into a better and healthier pattern that suits you personally.”

As a yoga instructor, Aspesberger explained that the most difficult part was changing people’s mindsets. “The biggest challenge I struggle with is getting people to realise that loving yourself will allow you to take better care of yourself. And after this, happiness will also flow. By doing yoga and meditation, you will see a great change in your way of thinking and living.”

Aspesberger’s classes focus mostly on self-love. “We only get one body, so if you don’t look after it, no one else will.”

Divine Interest was established last year and offers yoga and meditation classes to clients in the comfort of their own home.
