DIEPSLOOT – Hit-and-run incident kills three people.

 

Diepsloot police are currently investigating a hit-and-run incident which resulted in the death of three people.

According to a family friend, Sarah Pattison-Emms, Brave Chilanga (26) was hit by a white Toyota Avanza taxi while crossing the R114 opposite the Lion Park at 5.45am.

Chilanga was then run over by another taxi while he was on the ground, with the taxi then overturning, killing two passengers.

Pattison-Emms said, “The taxi that hit Chilanga was overtaking on the wrong side of the road when it hit him. He then fell to the other side of the road and was run over by a Quantum taxi, which overturned and rolled, killing two passengers.”

According to Pattison-Emms, Chilanga was declared dead on the scene.

“He was on his way to work when he was killed. When he didn’t pitch up at home or at work on Tuesday, we called the Roodepoort mortuary.”

Chilanga’s body was later moved to a mortuary in Diepsloot.

He leaves behind his wife and a child.

Pattison-Emms urged anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and contact her.

A case has been opened at Diepsloot Police Station. No response had been received from Diepsloot Police Station by the time of publication.
