Floating body identified

DIEPSLOOT - Diepsloot police have opened an inquest into the death of a woman whose body was found floating in a stream.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Daniel Mavimbela confirmed on 18 May that the case was receiving police attention, but ruled out any foul play. Mavimbela also revealed that the body had been identified by relatives. “Currently, no foul play is suspected,” said Mavimbela in a written response to Fourways Review queries.

He declined to reveal the identity of the deceased saying, “We cannot disclose further information until we receive confirmation that all relatives have been made aware [of her death].”

The woman is believed to between the age of 30 and 35 and her body was discovered by Diepsloot resident, Ian Manyesa, on his way to work on 14 May.
