Soccer season begins for Dainfern Lions Football Club

DAINFERN – Dainfern Lions Football Club kicks off their winter league season and encourages community members to join.

Situated inside Dainfern Golf and Residential Estate, the Dainfern Lions Football Club kicked off their 2016 winter league season with a number of practice matches for the junior and senior teams.

The club caters for players from eight years old to 34 years. The club participates in weekly league games in the Rand Central League Football Association.

Nic Papas, chairman of Dainfern Lions encouraged high school pupils who are interested in soccer to join the club.

Papas said, “There is not enough interest shown for the beautiful game once children get into high school, hence the difficulty this country is experiencing competing at pro level. It is clubs like these that will eventually allow the country to become competitive.”

He added that regular updates about the club and scores were posted on Facebook on a weekly basis. Anyone interested in joining the club is welcome to complete a membership form found on the club’s website or Facebook page.

Practice times are obtainable on the website.
