Siblings hijacked while exiting secure estate

LONEHILL- Two siblings were hijacked and while exiting a complex in Beverley. The suspects later dropped the two victims off in Kyalami unhurt.

According to Station Commander Brigadier Lettie Hugo,  the incident occurred on 5 May, at about 6.45pm,  at an estate just off Mulbarton Road in Beverley. “The complainant and her brother were driving out of the complex in their Range Rover Vogue. There was a white VW Touareg in front of them,” Hugo explained.

Before the gate could open for the woman, four armed males jumped out of the VW. “Two of the suspects forced the victims to the back of the car,” Hugo said.

The woman and her brother were driven to Kyalami, where the suspects dropped them off unharmed. Hugo said the suspects robbed the two of jewelry and cellphones.

Jean Bedou, chairperson of the Community Policing Forum confirmed the incident and added that a major police operation was underway to apprehend the perpetrators.

“The Douglasdale CPF is asking for far higher levels of vigilance from all its community members at this time and to report all suspicious activity to the South African Police Service on 10111 or SMS Crime Line on 32211.”
