Diepsloot fire victim finally laid to rest

DIEPSLOOT - A fire victim is laid to rest thanks to the support of the local community.

The late Beatrice Mhlongo was finally laid to rest in Diepsloot on 30 April after perishing in flames when her shack recently caught fire.

This was all courtesy of the Diepsloot community which donated resources to make her burial a success.

Mhlongo, who left behind her 80-year-old boyfriend Johnson Ndlovu and two daughters, was alone at home when she met her untimely death.

DA councillor of Diepsloot, Refilwe Mathebula, sent out an appeal to the community to assist in burying Mhlongo. Local churches donated R4 500, a local butchery chipped in with meat and mealie-meal, while a local undertaker donated chairs and a tent.

“I thank all the organisations and individuals for displaying such a spirit of uBuntu [humanity],” said Mathebula.
