Inquina to host open rugby session

SANDTON - The Inquina Rugby Football Club will host its first training session on 3 May at Fourways High School.

The club seeks to create a platform for younger children to participate in rugby through many programmes including Rugga-Kids. The club encourages children from a large portion of Johannesburg North, including Sandton, Bryanston and Fourways, to join their club and use their training grounds at Fourways High School.

Club manager, Thoriso Shihau said, “Most of the primary schools in the north do not play rugby… they have no experience, so what we want to do is assist in closing that gap.”

Shihau said the training session is open to all who are interested from U8 to U14, including pupils from rugby-offering schools. He said the training session will act, not only as an introduction to the club but also as a great platform for youngsters to receive insight into the sport.

He added that the kids will be introduced to the sport in a great way as they will benefit greatly from the fitness and team factors, but will also receive top rugby training from learning how to pass and kick the ball, to tackling correctly, which will prepare them for the game in the future.

“One thing we value greatly at the club is that all children get to play and the training session on 3 May is the perfect introduction.”

The training session will be from 5pm until 6pm, but games will begin July.
