Hamman hits the streets

JOHANNESBURG – Nick Hamman, from 5FM, will walk 300 kilometres, from Auckland Park to Polokwane for Live Loud.

Nick Hamman, host of ‘Hamman Time’ on 5FM, is known for his energetic character and youthful, yet revolutionary, content. However, he’s taking his show to a whole new level.

Hamman has teamed up with producer, Michael Bossenger to present one show over 300 kilometres as he travels the road to Small Town Live Loud.

“We’ve always had a reputation for taking things to the next level, so when 5FM asked us to start talking about Small Town Live Loud in Polokwane, we turned around and told them, we’re leaving on foot two weeks before and we’ll see them there,” Hamman explained.

Small Town Live Loud is when 5FM takes over the town for a number of days, broadcasting their shows live from the city centre and hosting various other activities including parties, concerts and charity initiatives.

Hamman and Bossenger will begin their trek on 15 April from the 5FM studio in Auckland Park. Their journey will be shared with listeners through Nicks show, Hamman Time, as they make their way through Bryanston to Pretoria, on to Hammanskraal, Pienaarsrivier, Bela Bela, Nylsvley, Waterval and Mokopane before finally arriving at Meropa Casino in Polokwane on 29 April.

So how exactly is he preparing for this epic adventure?

“I got to sit down with the new Springbok coach, Allistar Coetzee, and he gave me a good pep talk. There has also been a lot of research that had to go into this trip. We’ve already driven the route and mapped out where we will be staying every day. Also, Mad Money Mike (Bossenger) and I have been training daily, and we’re confident that we’re physically ready.”

Hamman explained that the aim of the trip is, “To share the beautiful story of South Africa with our listeners. Our land and our people are among the best in the world, and sometimes we forget that.”
