Residents complain about goats in Bloubosrand

BLOUBOSRAND – Following a complaint by a concerned resident, Ward 96 councillor Matome Mafokwane has confirmed that 'troublesome' goats in Bloubosrand were probably there to stay.

According to the resident who wished to remain anonymous, a number of goats walk around Bloubosrand eating everything.

“There are goats walking around along Riverbend Road, the side roads and even on Agulhas Street. They eat everything in sight, I once even saw a couple of them on a car roof in Vloot Street… Can someone not do something about these poor animals?” she said.

According to Mafokwane, attempts to get Metro police to assist failed, “Metro police will do nothing. The minute you talk about goats they refuse to engage,” he said. Mafokwane added that the goats belonged to a man residing in the Kya Sands informal settlement and he also owned cattle.

Metro police spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said he would look into the matter.
