Don’t complain if you don’t vote – resident

FOURWAYS - Ward 93 councillor Annette Deppe shared the importance of registering and casting your vote for the 2016 Municipal Elections.

According to Deppe, many wards have been demarcated and voters’ roles have been split as some have been moved from one station to another. “So it is very important that every new voter who has moved from one suburb to another to find the nearest voting station on the IEC website and to register for this year,” she said.

“The IEC may in Local Government Elections ask for utility bills to be produced on election day, and if community members have not registered at the correct voting district where they live, they may be turned away from the voting polls.”

Broadacres resident, Richard Slavin said, “My family and I have taken the time to come register like good citizens should. I believe that one can never complain about the government if you are not prepared to vote.”

IEC co-ordinator, Lina Mashaba said it was very important for residents to register to vote as they have the power to elect the government that will provide for their needs.
