Owner of abandoned house on Witkoppen in Sunninghill is sought

SUNNINGHILL - Sunninghill Community Ratepayers' Association is asking the owner of an abandoned house on Witkoppen Road in Sunninghill to come forward and explain what her plans are for the house.

According to Ward 93 councillor Annette Deppe, the house has been abandoned for at least 20 years. Deppe said she had a conversation with the owner 10 years ago, after the woman’s husband had died, and she told the councillor that she did not want to sell the house as her plan was to live in it after she retired. Deppe added that, at the time, the woman worked for Eskom.

“I have not heard from the owner of the abandoned house since and we do not know where she is,” Deppe said.

The councillor raised her concerns about the empty house as it was an invitation to vagrants to take over, and its deteriorating state devalued other houses in the suburb.

“We need the owner to contact us and we would like her to come forward and explain what plans she has with the house that she has abandoned,” Deppe concluded.
