Bryanston roads need help

BRYANSTON - Bryanston commuters are struggling with the state of their roads following fibre optic installations.

Numerous roads in the suburb including St James Crescent and Wilton Avenue have forced drivers to slow down considerably as they drive over ditches left in the road from recent broadband installations.

Ward 106 councillor Stephen Moore said the upgrades were done around December last year and the trenches cut in the road have only been filled with sand which has eroded as residents drive over them.

He added, “I haven’t received any complaints from residents recently. But it has been a great inconvenience for many people.” He said that these upgrades to the area are very necessary but the roads need to be fixed afterwards.

Spokesperson for the Johannesburg Road Agency Bertha Peters-Scheepers said that the organisation allows others to dig in the road after a wayleave form has been issued which allows them to begin work.

She added that the agency will investigate the issue further and find out who issued the wayleave form and will revert back to the Sandton Chronicle with regards to the process of fixing the roads.
