Armed robbery at jewellery store; 10 suspects on the run

NORTHGATE - Douglasdale Community Police Forum chairperson Jean Berdou confirmed 10 male suspects who robbed IWJ jewellery store in Northgate Shopping Centre are still on the run.

According to Berdou, the suspects arrived in two separate vehicles and demanded money from the jewellery store’s staff stealing several thousands of rand.

He added that the suspects fled the scene in separate vehicles and headed near Cosmo City area.

“No shots were fired and the jewellery store’s staff members were not injured,” Berdou said.

Natalie Kinsley, marketing manager of Northgate Shopping Centre said, “The jewellery store staff member pressed the store’s panic button which alerted the shopping centre’s security who contacted Honeydew police. They arrived on the scene immediately and started investigating.”

She added that the shopping centre is running back to normal.

When Fourways Review contacted Honeydew Police Station for comment, they stated that they are busy with thorough investigations on the crime scene.

3 February, 3pm:

NORTHUBLERLAND – It is alleged that there are 10 male suspects on the run after robbing a jewellery store on the afternoon of 3 February.

It is alleged that the suspects, who have now fled the scene, are involved in robbing a jewellery store at Northgate Shopping Centre.

According to Bryanston resident and founder of eBlockwatch Andre Snyman, it is alleged that the suspects were driving a white Toyota Corolla with a licence registration CP63SWGP and a Silver Nissan Quasqai.

He further said that one suspect has on a lumo orange shirt and fled in the direction of Olievenhout towards the N1. The suspect is said to be armed and dangerous.

eBlockwatch Rover was able to establish that the vehicle involved in the robbery is listed as being sought for previous hijackings.
