The victim was walking in Sharonlea at the corner of President Fouche Drive and Malibongwe Drive. Here, her attacker assaulted, mugged and stabbed her. He allegedly attempted to rape her as well. EMER-G-MED paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after 8.15pm.
The woman was treated before being transported to hospital. She has since been released.
In the wake of this attempted rape, Central Sharonlea Residents Forum is planning an organised raid in the area.
Residents, domestic workers and gardeners have been reminded to steer clear of dark areas, to not walk alone and to always be vigilant.
