Mr ADT makes learning about safety fun for kids

FOURWAYS – Teaching toddlers about safety has never been so entertaining … all thanks to Darin McDowall, or Mr ADT as he has come to be known by his young audiences.

Catchy and entertaining, McDowall’s safety show works, and judging by the look of the Merry Days and Little Saints Preschool pupils, his message is clear, simple and well understood.

Titled The Baddies and Buddies, McDowall’s show focuses on bullying, home robberies, keeping our belongings safe, being alert, how to get help from the police, panic buttons, strangers and respect, which he illustrates through a puppet show and a selection of props.

McDowall also addresses personal safety, dangers in the kitchen, electricity safety, the danger of playing with guns, hijackings, and how to behave around dogs.

Jerry Thomas, principal of the preschool said, “Children are never too young to be educated and made aware of safety. It is important that they know about the different dangers in their surroundings and how to keep themselves safe which is the first priority.”

The fun-filled show is hosted by the security company, ADT, free of charge to schools and has been successfully rolled out in Gauteng and in the Western Cape.

Should a teacher or parent be interested in booking a show for their school, they are welcome to contact Tamryn Salemink.
