The campaign started at the Diepsloot taxi rank in Ext 1 and ended at Mashamplana Informal Settlement in Ext 2.
Community members were praised for relying on the police and not taking the law into their own hands. However, police also expressed concern over the increase of reported domestic violence cases. Residents who participated in the campaign were rewarded when police distributed 250 Memeza personal alarms.
Warrant officer, Daniel Mavimbela, head of communications at Diepsloot Police Station, explained that the Diepsloot CPF developed a programme of action which was recently adopted by community stakeholders.
“The programme of action has now become the road map which guides police and the community towards the creation of a safer and secure environment,” he said.
