Count your blessings during festive period, urges Gibson

JOBURG - One of the most prominent residents of Hyde Park, Douglas Gibson, has called upon the readers of Fourways Review newspaper to count their blessings during the festive period.

Gibson, a former DA MP and erstwhile SA Ambassador to Thailand, urged his fellow contemporaries to overlook the challenges they faced during 2015 and concentrate on their achievements during the year.

“Complaining all the time is not good enough. I want to wish your readers a wonderful festive period and a prosperous 2016,” said the former controversial lawmaker who this reporter bumped into at a local shopping mall.

The humorous Gibson said people should celebrate responsibly and save a few rand for 2016.

The former legislator revealed that he had now taken to writing novels. He added that he did not regret leaving parliament or diplomatic office.

“I am 73 years old, one must know when it is time to leave public office before being forced,” said Gibson.
