Burst pipe leaks water for two days

KYALAMI - A burst water pipe on Cactus Road in Kyalami has been running since the afternoon of 10 November, and despite a community member's calls to log the burst, the water is still leaking.

The leak comes at a time when Joburg Water has implemented Level-2 water restrictions.

According to a Kyalami resident, who wished to remain anonymous, a pipe was hit on Cactus Road, allegedly by a company which was busy with repairs.

Despite numerous calls to Joburg Connect the pipe is still not fixed, the resident explained.

David Sibiya, spokesperson for Joburg Water explained that he wasn’t aware of the report and that Joburg Water was taking the water crisis very seriously and planned on having a media briefing on the water crisis later today.

Ward 94, councillor John Mendelsohn urged residents to use water sparingly and adhere to water saving measures put into place by the City of Johannesburg.
