12 taxi drivers bust for reckless driving

DOUGLASDALE - Twelve taxi drivers were arrested for reckless and negligent driving in a joint operation by Douglasdale police and Metro police on Malibongwe Drive and President Fouché Road on the morning of 14 October.

This after numerous complaints from the Douglasdale community about taxi drivers disregarding road traffic rules.

Head of communications for the Douglasdale police, Warrant Officer Balan Muthan said, “These operations with Metro police Region C will be ongoing and they will be surprise operations.

“We will not tolerate the blatant disregard of the traffic act and should you be found breaking the act you will receive the necessary punishment.”

The taxi drivers are due to appear in court soon.
