Dispose of electronic waste at collection points

SUNNINGHILL – For the sixth year running, Jeffares and Green Engineering and Environmental Consultants, in partnership with the Institute of Waste Management of Southern Africa and the Southern African E-Waste Alliance, will set up electronic waste collection points from 9 October.

People are urged to dispose of unwanted electronic waste at these designated collection areas throughout the country. Local residents can drop off their electronic waste at Chilli Lane shopping centre, on the corner of Leeuwkop and Rivonia roads, Sunninghill, from 10am to 3pm on 10 October.

Electronic waste is any unwanted electrical or electronic equipment, powered by either batteries or electricity, such as computers, TVs, VCRs and DVD players, consumer electronics, kettles, printers, fax machines, cellphones, toasters, microwaves or direct electrical parts thereof.

All electronic waste received on the day will, in accordance with its condition, be repaired, refurbished, dismantled or safely disposed of in an environmentally safe manner.
