Kitty survives snare

FOURWAYS – A female feral kitten recently got a second chance at life after she was found with serious wounds on her neck.

 

The kitten, which was found by a staff member from FourPaws, is believed to have escaped a snare.

Veterinarian Dr Sheila Hahn explained that the kitten, who was in excruciating pain, was fortunate to be alive and was still undergoing medical treatment.

According to Kalien Padayachee, from the KaiNav Conservation Foundation, the incident is the second he has heard of in a week. Padayachee said following a complaint from a resident of her cat being caught in a snare, a total of seven snares were found in an area less than 50m² after a reconnaissance operation in one of the green areas in Fourways.

The lucky kitten is currently being housed at FourPaws, an animal shelter located outside Diepsloot. Anyone interested in adopting her or making a donation to the animal shelter can contact FourPaws.
