Estranged wife lays 80 charges against Dainfern man

DAINFERN - An estranged wife has reportedly laid 80 charges against a Dainfern man.

IOL is reporting that the man’s lawyer has denied the charges, which include rape, assault and malicious damage to property. The man reportedly handed himself over to police on 2 September and appeared in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 3 September, but due to a three-day water shortage at the court house, his bail hearing could not be heard.

The case was postponed to 9 September.

The lawyer reportedly told the court that his client had a right for his bail hearing to be heard 48 hours after his arrest, but the court date was still set for 9 September.

It was further reported that the woman has been working with prosecutors for months on allegations that she suffered three-and-a-half years of abuse such as rape, death threats and that the interior of her home was destroyed.
