Handbags for the ladies

MAGALIESSIG – Passionate about making a difference, Marsh Africa together with the Keep a Girl Child in School initiative celebrated Women’s Month by collecting handbags for underprivileged women.

Speaking at an executive lunch, financial manager of Marsh Africa, an insurance broking and risk management company, Michelle Pienaar, commemorated the milestones that so many women had achieved through the years, paying tribute to those who had paved the way.

Pienaar added that the handbags, filled with female necessities donated by a few generous sponsors, would be given to a women’s organisation, so that they too could feel the love this Women’s Month.

Emcee Gerry Rantseli, a philanthropist and media personality, said it was disturbing that government was prepared to take care of the consequences of unprotected sex, yet failed to take care of girls before they were sexually active. Rantseli added that it was even more disturbing that the government didn’t make sanitary towels readily available to women, yet condoms and contraceptives were available at every clinic.

“It’s shocking,” she exclaimed.
